Welcome to my very first Flashback Friday!
I was sifting through my make-up pictures of old and I came across this shoot I did with Clara and her friend Rachelle back in the summer of 2012! How gorgeous does she look? I love red lips. No, I LOOOOOOOVE red lips. It’s classic, sexy, and DAMN EASY to do. When you’re in a rush, swipe some straight from the tube and ta-da! Suddenly you look polished :)
STEP BY STEP:
a. Start off with an even complexion and smooth flake-free lips. You can try using ILIA’s Lip Exfoliator.
b. Line your lips with the Cherry lipliner(1), filling in your whole lip. It helps your lipstick stay on longer.
c. Apply Russian Red(2) straight from the tube or load up a lip brush to apply, starting from the middle and ensuring you get the colour into the corners of your mouth. It looks really strange and unfinished when one wears bright or dark lipstick and it cuts off near the corners of their mouth. In order to make your lipstick last even longer, you can blot your lips at this point, use a powder puff to pat on a little loose powder on your lips, and apply another layer of lipstick.
d. With an eyeshadow brush, wash the Kitten shadow(3) over your eyelid, pulling some into the inner corners of your eyes.
e. Eyeliner is entirely optional, but in this case we wanted a retro vibe so I lined Rachelle’s eyes with a Black gel liner(4), flicking it up into a wing at the end. Finish the eyes with loads of mascara and/or a set of false lashes.
f. Don’t forget your cheeks – sculpting your cheekbones with a warm rosy blush like Dolce Vita(5) makes a beautiful compliment to your lips.
g. Last but not least, straighten your shoulders, chin up and SMILE as you walk out the door :)
Did you know:
Russian Red was developed for Madonna’s Blond Ambition tour in 1990. It was formulated to last a whole performance without touchups!
