As much as I don’t want summer to end, there’s something so darn irresistible about Fall/Autumn. I’m not even talking about the leaves turning colour, though that’s beautiful too. There’s something about Fall fabrics and makeup that I freaking love. The temperature dips a bit and suddenly you’re wrapping yourself up in these luxurious textures and spending more time primping in the mirror. You just feel GRAND.

Checking out Fall/Winter backstage makeup is always fun – unlike Spring/Summer where the makeup is a lot about fresh, natural and glowy, F/W always promises a bit of drama. This year it’s all about your eyes: pops of colour, metallics, and graphic lines. Nail art isn’t going anywhere, but nudes are going to be very popular (lucky me!), along with gold and grey metallics. Lips took a bit of a back seat this time around, with shades also on the natural fleshy side. Scroll down for the 6 Best Makeup to get you excited for Fall:

COLOUR POP

URBAN DECAY | Electric Pressed Pigment Palette

SO FUN. If your heart stopped, fear not: Dampen your angled/liner brush and give your outer corners a little flick of colour. That’s all you need! That orange colour is awesome. If you’re a little more gutsy, go all out – at the end of the day, you wipe it off anyway!

METALLIC

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY | Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in (Luna)tic

Have you tried these eye liners? They have some intense staying power! I also love how they look like a regular pencil but actually twist up. This metallic silver colour with a hint of lilac is perfect – not too light and not too dark – it’s gorgeous on all skin tones. 2 simple steps: Draw and smudge with your finger. Don’t dawdle ’cause these babies set fast!

DIOR | Vernis Gel Shine in Métal Montaigne

I like the rectangular cube shape of these bottles because they pack really well, and look gorgeous on your vanity. It tells me if my cap is tight or not (I have problems with travel polish spillage). As expected of Dior, they go on super smooth and dry fast. I also love metallics because they are so forgiving with my shoddy applications :*)

LILAC EYES

BOBBI BROWN | Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Cool Lilac

I guess Radiant Orchid ain’t over yet :)
Cream shadows are not what they used to be: crease-mania the moment you put it on, making your lids look greasy and gross. I use tonnes of cream shadows nowadays as they basically double up as primer, helping your powder shadows stay creaseless and vibrant longer. You can use a brush to apply this one, or just smudge it on with your ring finger and blend. So easy.

LASHES LASHES LASHES

TARTE | MultiplEYE Natural Lash-Enhancing Primer

This is the lash primer I’m using at the moment and I love it. If you haven’t used a mascara primer before, this will change your life. Seriously clump it on, layer it on if you will. Wait a few minutes before applying your mascara. Your lashes will suddenly be like POW.

GRAPHIC LINES

URBAN DECAY | 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion

I might’ve talked about this one before, because it is really really good. If I’m going to be honest, it has substantially higher staying power than the other 24/7 liner colours, and those are very good as well. It’s also the only black liner that has any hope of staying on my lash line. Anyway, go wild with this one, Fall calls for lotsa liner, however you want to draw it. A pointed q-tip or an angled brush gives you really sharp wings, but don’t sweat it because this season is less about precision than being little more edgy.

Thanks for tuning in! Tomorrow, I’m listing my own Sephora Splurges Wishlist, which includes a Koh Gen Do foundation that isn’t available in Canadian stores but can purchase online. I’m still trying to figure out which shade I most likely am. Meanwhile, check out my 5 Last Minute Travel Shortcuts and 5+1 Back to School Basics!
